We have recently had the opportunity to contribute to two important local media conversations about mental health, ADHD assessment, and children’s emotional wellbeing, reflecting growing public interest in these areas.
At Cura Psychology in Lichfield, we are proud to be actively engaged in community dialogue about psychological wellbeing, neurodiversity, and children’s mental health support in the UK. These recent appearances on Lichfield Radio and the Parenting Wins Podcast offered a chance to explore these themes in an open and accessible way.
ADHD Assessment on Lichfield Radio
We recently had a great discussion on Lichfield Radio, where we were invited onto the morning show with Scott and the team. As proud sponsors of Lichfield Radio, it was a pleasure to join the programme and talk about our work at Cura Psychology in Lichfield, particularly around ADHD assessment in children and adults.
During the conversation, Scott shared his own recent ADHD diagnosis on air, which led to an honest and wide-ranging discussion about what diagnosis means in practice. This included:
- The benefits of understanding ADHD through formal assessment
- Ongoing concerns around overdiagnosis and public debate
- How individuals and families can access appropriate ADHD assessments in the UK
- Where to start if you suspect ADHD in yourself or your child
- The discussion highlighted the importance of thoughtful, clinically informed assessment rather than
- assumptions or self-diagnosis, and the value of seeking support from qualified professionals.

Children’s Mental Health on the Parenting Wins Podcast
More recently, I was invited by Iona Chisholm to speak on the Parenting Wins Podcast, where we explored key aspects of children’s mental health and emotional wellbeing.
In this episode, we discussed:
- The early signs that a child might be struggling emotionally
- What anxiety looks like in children, including behavioural and emotional presentations
- How difficulties can sometimes show up as physical symptoms, school avoidance, or changes in behaviour
- Who parents and carers can turn to if they are worried about their child
We also explored the importance of early support and how timely intervention can make a significant difference to a child’s emotional development and confidence.
The next episode will focus in more depth on children’s mental health, continuing this important conversation around early identification, support pathways, and evidence-based psychological approaches.
